Born in Tokyo in 1929. Graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1951. Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee for ICSID'73 Congress, Kyoto in 1971. Co-General Producer of the World Design Exposition '89, Nagoya in 1989. His present status includes Chairman of GK Design Group, Senator of International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), Chairman of the Design for the World, Board Member of the Japan Design Foundation and Chairman of Forum Douguology. His awards include ICSID Colin King Grand Prix., the Award for Contributions to Design Promotion, Officier de L'Ordre des Arts et des letters (France) and the Order of the Rising Sun.
